Wedding Guest Dress Etiquette
How should a modern wedding guest dress?
1. Dress Code Garden/Beach Casual: For Spring/Summer go for light colors and comfortable fabrics, a flow printed or plain dress, accessorized with a matching bag and shoe. For Autumn/Winter choose deeper colors, and layer with a fitted jacket, you could look at a jumpsuit or pantsuit, or a longer length dress.
2. Lounge/Cocktail/After 5: Opt for a cocktail dress, or a more formal jumpsuit/pantsuit here. Wear with jewels and statement heels and clutch bag.
3. Black/White Tie: This is a formal dress code, opt for an elegant long gown or glamorous cocktail length dress.
Is it OK to wear black to a wedding? Yes, especially After 5 weddings, as it's a formal evening color.
For women, are any colors off limits? As a general rule, avoid white, however it's fine if worn with other colors, I would also recommend checking the bridesmaids' colors, to avoid wearing the same tone.
